Making Dinner Every Night This Week - Day 4
Tonight's dinner - breaded baked chicken breasts, mashed potatoes, gravy, and brussell sprouts.
No picture. My stars didn't align today. Today would have been the day I didn't make dinner because I was in THAT kind of mood, but it's the principle and I'm not cleaning that shelf.
My thoughts are on overload -
Reality: My fingernails keep breaking.
Thought: I must have some sort of deficiency.
Reality: The dog follows me everywhere.
Thought: His sixth sense must know something is wrong with me.
Reality: I had to take TUMS today.
Thoughts: It must mean that something is wrong with my digestive system.
Reality: I injured my hip a few years ago.
Thought: I am certain my intestines are twisted and thinking that I'm gaining more of an understanding as to why I needed the TUMS.
Reality: My lower back has been out of whack.
Thought: I'm convinced this has something to do with my ovaries.
Lastly, our 6-year-old isn't as crazy about karate as he used to be. He doesn't want to go and it's bumming me out. When the husband came home I told him I didn't want to talk about it because it is making me upset. So when I started talking about it anyway why didn't he know to stop the conversation and say,
"Remember Hunny? You didn't want to talk about it."
Instead, he let me talk about it, then he talked about it, then I talked about it louder, then he talked about it a little louder, then I said a lot louder,
"I told you I didn't want to talk about it."
Why didn't he listen the first time?

To top things off Private Practice has a tumor-ridden mother and son story line going. All the more to overload my head with more thoughts. TV is supposed to be my escape -
I wonder what it would be like to be Addison Montgomery?
For the record, I only engaged in the conversation because i didn't want to upset the wife by NOT talking on her special "Red X" day. As soon as I could I escaped to the bedroom until dinner was ready. I also did the dishes and got the boys into bed while the quixotic soul took some quiet time for herself.
ReplyDeleteYes he did. He did all those things and it wouldn't be the first time. That is why I try and remind myself every damn day just how very lucky I am.
ReplyDeleteIf you guys do one more bit of cyber flirting, I am going to puke. In a good way. :)
ReplyDeleteNow listen up, friend. You are JUST LIKE MY SISTER. Do you wanna know what she texted me yesterday?
"I am wide awake and panicking. What if somehow me and the kids end up on a deserted Island and we find enough clams and vegetation to survive, but how am I gonna teach them all about culture and keeping hope alive to be rescued, on my own, especially after so long of being along on the Island?" For real. And you know what I told her?
I said, "Lori, if you are going to lay awake imagining problems, AT LEAST imagine real possible problems that you can actually work through a solution for." And I have the same message for you, you silly crazy worrier lady! You should give yourself a problem to solve, like, every hour or day or week or however long it takes. A problem that maybe you could come up with a solution for, where you come out herioc and victorious. And the catch is, you are not allowed to think of any other problem until you solve that one. But it can't be health related. It has to be something like, well, I won't even give an example. But you know what I mean? Something real and tangible, like "If I won a million dollars, how would I divide it fairly between all the people who need it?" and then daydream about giving money to a bunch of people who could really use it. That sounds way more fun than the kind of worrying you are doing.
Another idea is to simply start smoking pot.(Which I personally don't do [anymore] but it can be real helpful for people with high anxiety!)
xoxo
Ohh... how I wish it were that easy. I wish. I wish.
ReplyDeleteYou know what happens when I actually find something to keep my mind busy? I become obsessed. This can be good, but sometimes bad because if I choose something that freaks me out it just increases the anxiety. It's all sorts of twisted. For example I have had to learn the hard way NOT to watch 48 Hours Investigates.
We gotta find the mojo somewhere because our 14-year-old doesn't actually fall asleep until midnight, our 6-year-old is up at 7am, and the man is gone for 12+ hours during the day. I'm seriously going to look into that Skype thingamajing.
You’re right about smoking, but I never inhale.
